Project Overview

Kiewit selected Kolb Grading as a subcontractor for site work on the 300 MW Split Rail solar project in Warren County, Missouri, for Invenergy. The site covers 4,400 acres, so access roads, drainage, and erosion control all had to work at a very large scale.

Kolb built and lime-stabilized more than 165,000 square yards of access roads, prepared 108,563 square yards of parking and laydown, and removed and replaced 173,796 cubic yards of topsoil. Crews also installed nearly 26,000 feet of silt fence and 96,000 feet of smart fence, 17 sediment basins, and 172 riprap check dams.
