Louis Armstrong Airport - New Orleans

Our Projects

Louis Armstrong Airport – New Orleans

New Orleans, LA

Project Overview

Kolb Grading was awarded a contract to support the expansion of Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans, Louisiana. The work centered on stabilizing a cypress swamp to make the site suitable for expansion: excavating and disposing of more than 200,000 cubic yards of unsuitable material, removing existing storm, sanitary, water, electrical, and street infrastructure, and importing over 1,760,000 cubic yards of sand for stabilization and surcharge. At peak, Kolb coordinated more than 100 hired trucks moving roughly 30,000 cubic yards per day, milled and crushed asphalt on-site to build temporary access roads, and installed 14,000,000 linear feet of wick drain to manage long-term settlement.
